Everyone is taught never to judge a book by its cover, it's the words themselves that are important.
Even though it is a statement, it doesn't mean the rule is followed . If you see someone on the side of the road with a cardboard sign, they must be broke even if they could be ANYONE in the whole wide word.
My 6th Grade Language Arts Teacher once had a talk with us (students) on the subject of covers after the books that had been torn and ripped seemed to be picked less in his Library of Randomized Books . He then stood to the class and pointed out the that even though the torn books were awful looking, they were still great to read after he read some of the beaten cover's summaries. He stated that even though we would always be told to never judge someone on the outside, we always will. Humans will always judge and we all know that from the thousands of years of doing so.
So even if you think a book is torn-up, shredded, covered in mysterious liquids, and smells just like a trash bin full of burning rotten food, it still might be a good book. You just might want to find a different copy though.
